On the 13th, the Sejong Academic Information Center held a “Plaque Unveiling Ceremony for UNESCO ESD Official Project Certification.”

The ceremony was organized to celebrate and share the achievements of the “Sustainable Learning and Sharing Project,” which has been jointly operated by the Sejong Academic Information Center (Director Lee Ki-yong) and the Teaching and Learning Information Center (Director Gye In-guk) of Korea University Sejong Campus. The project was selected in 2025 as an official project certified by UNESCO under its Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) initiative.

Since 2019, the Sejong Academic Information Center has operated a youth environmental mentoring program in Sejong City titled “Speaking for the Earth for All.” In 2020, the project received official UNESCO ESD certification, thereby establishing a strong foundation for education for sustainable development.

 

Building on this foundation, the Teaching and Learning Information Center has, since 2023, developed a project-based innovative course titled “SEMO Class: Learning and Sharing Model.” The course was designed to explore local community issues and promote shared learning. Through this initiative, the Center has realized the value of learning for the community and, in collaboration with the Academic Information Center, established an educational model that expands learning into sustainable, real-world practice.

The “Sustainable Learning and Sharing Project” of Korea University Sejong Campus is a program aimed at building a sustainable model of mutual growth between the university and the local community by linking and sharing the university’s educational and academic resources with the region. The project was recognized for its excellence in promoting the values of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and enhancing practical applicability, earning UNESCO ESD official project certification for the period 2025~2027.

Meanwhile, Korea University Sejong Campus plans to continue contributing to the creation of social value by embracing ESD as a core principle and implementing a wide range of practice-oriented projects that integrate education, research, and community engagement.
